Somewhere you simply can’t miss if you’re vegan and hungry in Edinburgh, is Sora Lella. They are a 100% Roman vegan restaurant. Sora Lella is run by a family from Rome, creating wonderfully authentic Italian dishes, recreated without the use of animal products. They have the greatest pizza and the most outstanding pasta that you will ever taste. You will be thinking about these dishes long after heading home from Scotland. You can order their Quattro Formaggi e Funghi in the form of creamy pasta or delectable pizza. Both dishes are prefect and lacking for nothing! This quaint and classy spot is intimate enough for a date night. You can view their much deserved awards for being the top vegan restaurant in Edinburgh while you eat. Definitely a must try!

hello@novapizza.co.uk
Novapizza is another fully Italian and vegan restaurant in Edinburgh. They use local ingredients as much as possible for their fabulous selections of appetizers and main courses. They also offer an array of gluten free options. The atmosphere is classy and intimate, making it perfect for an elegant and affordable evening. They update their menu regularly and have a decent wine selection. The Burrata is a decadent, cheesy, and creamy option for an appetizer. I highly recommend it. And you can’t go wrong with any of their pizzas! They will certainly succeed in making your time spent with them special, with their cuisine and atmosphere.

Seeds For The Soul is proud to be 100% plant based! Try some savory pancakes with sausage, bacon, scramble, and maple syrup, or their Biscoff Pancakes. They also have the Vegan Benny: their vegan version of Eggs Benedict. It does not disappoint, with homemade yolk sauce and vegan hollandaise! They have an all day breakfast menu, or you can stop by for lunch. Starting at noon, they have some splendid bowls and burgers. Their Mac N Cheese Burger comes highly recommended. Their food not only looks appetizing, but it checks all the boxes by being comfort food with a healthy twist! Check out their website for their holiday specials.

This is a popular spot known for mouthwatering vegan burgers, and cute teapots. Located in close proximity to train and bus stations, Holy Cow Vegan Café was established in 2016 as one of the first completely plant based cafes in Edinburgh. Most local vegans are loyal fans of this wonderful café for it’s flavorful food and use of local and organic ingredients. Being in the heart of Edinburgh; this is a marvelous place for ethical food. You can’t go wrong with their fully vegan breakfasts, burgers and sandwiches, or their fresh soup of the day! Check their location specific menu on ‘maps’ before you go. Both of their locations have slightly different menus. The Pulled Jackfruit at the Elder street Location is a must try. I highly suggest ordering the Van Carrot Salmon. It is delightful and unique. When I look at their online menus, I don’t see the Carrot Salmon dish at either location, but if you do go, and you see it on the menu; I highly suggest trying it for a taste of something new!

The Black Rabbit is a completely vegan deli and coffee shop serving deli favorites without animal products. They create sweet and savory pastries that are baked fresh in house, everyday. They have flavorful sandwiches, breakfast rolls, and a range of artisan vegan cheeses at their deli counter, along with incredible deli slices. They care about the environment and use compostable takeout packaging, biodegradable film to wrap cheese, and they do not use plastic. The Black Rabbit offer a 10% discount if you bring your own cup or takeaway container! They have a rich Pumpkin Soup, served with sourdough bread. We ordered their ‘Nae Egg’ and Cress Sandwich, and their Salmon and Cream Cheese Bagel; a bagel served with vegan smoked salmon, cream cheese, dill, capers, and cucumbers. Delicious! This vegan stop is “not just rabbit food!”

Crumbs Cafe is such a cute and underrated place. With it’s charming blue exterior and friendly staff; this is where the locals go for a warm start to their day. The staff here feel like family, and treat everyone as such. Their Mushroom Empanada is out of this world, and so beautifully crafted. I also had the Peppermint Mocha which was lovely. This spot is not vegan but again, most places in Scotland have brilliant vegan options! They have a variety of things on the menu from large full breakfasts to keep you energized throughout your morning, to takeaway pastries. For their vegan options check out their empanadas, sandwiches, vegan tortilla, and coffees. There isn’t a huge amount of plant-based options to choose from, but there is something for any time of day, and the options available are more than enough! I highly suggest this little local spot!

The Kilted Donut is not completely vegan but offer some incredible vegan donuts, and of course plant milks for your coffees. If you haven’t seen this place on social media, you have to check them out to get a look at their outstanding donut designs. They are infamous for smooshing up donuts to show off the designs and textures in a satisfying way. These donuts are definitely works of art, and they have so many unique flavors! Their staff is remarkable at creating new tastes to try out on customers. This location is situated right on a beautiful square with benches to eat your breakfast outside, and there is an astounding view of Edinburgh Castle! You absolutely have to stop by while shopping in the area, or for breakfast before heading up the hill for a tour of the Castle!

All Bar One is a chain cocktail bar with over 50 locations. They have inviting tapas-style plates and expertly crafted cocktails. Their drinks menu comes with a vegan label to make the vegan options easy to find. There aren’t that many vegan options but the plant based food available is well worth trying out this tapas bar. There Vegan Caramel Biscuit Torte is sensational, as is the Laksa Coconut Curry. They have a Plant Based Burger, and an elite Vegan Quesadilla made with a beetroot chai tortilla, divine cheese, avocado, and pea coriander chutney. And they have a cocktail Masterclass starting at $30 where you can learn to create your own cocktails from expert mixologists!
I’m not joking around with this one. If you live in the USA, then I’m sure you’re used to Burger King’s vegan option: the Beyond Burger. And that’s about it. In the UK, Burger King’s menu offers more vegan options then you’re used to. They have a vegan Ultimate Bean Burger(not to be confused with the vegetarian Ultimate Bean Burger which comes with cheese), the Vegan Royale, and Vegan Nuggets. Their vegan meals are served with regular fries and they have separate fryers, but all of the oil filtrates through the same system and creates a risk for cross contamination. I’m not an endorser of Burger King personally, and did not eat here while visiting Scotland. I wanted to include it on this list because I think their larger menu for vegans and vegetarians is worth mentioning. There are posters all around town showcasing their vegan burgers, and I’m not listing the locations because there are are almost 10 in Edinburgh, and you can see them all around while visiting. If you decide to stop here, I think you will be impressed by the menu.
